High Desert Herbal Chai

A warming desert chai made with wild-harvested pinon needles from the high desert of Southwestern Utah.

Unlike traditional chai blends built solely on spices, Piñon Chai begins with fresh pinon pine needles, bringing a bright, resinous forest note that reflects the landscapes where these trees grow. Each batch of piñon is sustainably harvested by hand in the desert mountains and mesas of Utah.

Combined with warming chai spices, the result is a deeply aromatic tea that feels both grounding and invigorating.

Wild Harvested Piñon

Piñon pine has long been part of the cultural and ecological landscape of the American Southwest.

The needles used in this tea are harvested by hand in Southwestern Utah, where piñon forests grow across desert plateaus and mountain slopes. Harvesting is done carefully and seasonally, taking only small amounts from each tree.

The needles bring both flavor and traditional herbal value. Piñon has historically been used in regional herbal traditions for respiratory support and as a warming winter tea.

The Flavor

Piñon needles contribute a fresh, evergreen aroma with subtle citrus and resinous notes. These pair naturally with classic chai spices.

The blend is warm, bold, and slightly sweet from licorice, with layers of spice that unfold slowly as the tea steeps.

Flavor notes include:

• forest pine
• warming ginger
• cinnamon spice
• citrus-bright star anise
• subtle sweetness from licorice
